It's been 4 years today. I was fairly new to Girl's Day that time and i only read about real men on articles, watched the clips on youtube and check nb translations. I wasn't familiar with the show's concept or watched the first few episodes prior to the female special but basically the cast went to an intense army training. It's hard to watch even though it had some serious and fun moments.
The show was already gaining audience attention when female cast first appeared. One of the cast member had her share of controversy but seems like people enjoy the show bit by bit.
Hyeri also shines before the aegyo shenanigans and she already gained praises for her efforts on the show. I found Hyeri really good on variety shows even before Real Men. Her 'Dream Team' appearance was a classic. I always anticipates Hyericules projects.
Hyeri also explained the situation leading up to her famous aegyo moment on Real Men
Hyeri explained that her performance was a spur-of-the-moment action. "I was actually somewhat disappointed," she said. "It was the last day, I hoped [the instructor] would be a bit nicer."
Hyeri then snatched a lot of CFs and here's some of them
There's still more stories related to it. I wish i could share more but i'll try my best next time with much better coverage. It's aftermath was well discussed and 2014 was a great time to be alive. Hyeri bagged the Female Newcomer Award at 2014 MBC Entertainment Awards. She got a role on Seonam Girls High School Investigators drama.
The viral aegyo made its appearance on Amazing Saturday episode 2 weeks ago
2014 was a rollercoaster. It was exhausting and eventful. It was imperfect but no one can take away this success from Hyeri and i'm happy for all her success.Continue Reading
There's a lack of Hyeri content on this blog. I think its because her era has yet to come in my backtrack. She got no bangs back in the first 2 years into her debut and she has yet to establish her footing on the idol industry as hyericules, dukseon or 10 billion won girl. I can proudly say i had the privilege to witness her rise to fame back when there's barely someone talking about her. 2014 was a hell of a year and a turning point for her career. She got her fair share of controversies and success. Following her closely that time, every time she breathes, seems like somebody is pissed off somewhere. It's funny, frustrating and confusing that time but her variety show guesting really took off and took her further. Fast forward to 4 years later, 2018 and she's still on the roll. I'm really glad a lot of people stuck with her after reply 1988 and thanks to them we got lots of updates about her and most especially that support on everything that she's doing. Following her closely, her squad of friends was really something and just for the fun of things, i would love to see them reunited again. I'm hoping i could post more about her in the coming blog entries. 1. Hyeri and Hayoung dailygsdgifs These two are really something and they're adorable every time they meet. I miss Girl's Day & Apink. Quite sad their comebacks barely cross these days. They've always been friends since day 1 i guess. We just need another interaction with them elsewhere maybe on an event or variety show. 2. Hyeri and Entertainer (Ddandaara) Squad I barely had memories about this drama or this squad but it seems that they also developed some sort of friendship during the course of filming. It sucks how the drama turned out. The script was shitty and they could have fleshed out hyeri and jisung romantic plot potentials. gdi. Disappointments aside, i really like what i'm seeing here compared to hyde, jekyll and i casts (they're good too). Jisung has been supportive. Gongmyung and l.joe were seen with her after the drama. Hoping to see them once again this year. 3. Hyeri and Jiyeon These 2 former mtv the show mcs are adorable as ever. Their on-show antics were hilarious and even their news segment were one of the things i always look forward to. As co-mcs, they really have good chemistry. It's been a long time since they had subtle interaction especially on social media. Can we get a selca before this year ends? 4. Hyeri and WJSN's Yeoreum Hyeri's interactions with these new generation girl group idols are rare. I'm just happy we were able to witness this and bless yeoreum for able to take this pic. 5. Hyeri and Chaeyeon If only Girl's Day would perform more on events, there are lots of possibilities of rookie interactions with them. If they would promote later this year, there might be a chance. 6. Hyeri and Sana At first, everyone's asking how did they become friends lol. It's a small world after all. Hyeri can be friends with anybody and this is one hell of a discovery haha. I hope they're still in touch with each other. 7. Hyeri and Seonam Girls High School Investigators cast This is interesting because i can actually dedicate a full blog entry about this squad. It's that special to me. One of hyeri's most interesting drama and cast. I remember we have a small group of discussion dedicated to this drama. It was really cool. Hyeri's role was so dorky and her lines are so meta. You have to watch it to find out. As for the cast, Hyeri and Kang Minah are still interacting these days. They're still dorks as ever. literal goals. I would love to see this group get together again. I miss them so much and i think i'll dedicate a time to rewatch the drama too. 8. Hyeri and Subin This is way way back but they had lots of interactions in the past. I'm still hoping they would cross paths in the future and see more of them. 9. Hyeri and Suzy They've been close for a long time but they only have that picture together lmao. What are the odds suzy would guest on amazing saturday so that we can finally have a proper selca? haha 10. Hyeri and Ssamundong Squad This is just squad goals. Last name ever, first name greatest. It's the GOAT of all of her fellow friend because we've seen so much of them on and off camera. I bet we'll see them once again this year supporting each other's projects. Continue Reading
Cannes: South Korean Creature Film 'Monstrum' Pre-Sells to Multiple Territories
Digital Store LLC/AMC Network picked up the medieval tale for North America.
South Korean medieval creature film Monstrum has pre-sold to multiple territories, Seoul-based sales banner Finecut announced Thursday.
Deals have been struck for North America and the U.K. including Ireland (Digital Store LLC/AMC Networks' Shudder); Germany, Austria and Switzerland except French- and Italian-speaking Pay TV (Koch Media); Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia (Clover Films); Vietnam (Blue Lantern); Philippines (Rafaella Films International); Taiwan (Moviecloud); and Thailand (Mono Film). Emphasis landed the worldwide in-flight rights.
"The film is still in postproduction, so only the promotional clip and synopsis have been revealed to buyers. But the film has already proven to be wildly popular," said a rep for Finecut.
Inspired by true medieval records dating back to Korea's Joseon Kingdom (1392-1910), Monstrum is set during an epidemic outbreak when rumors spread about a dreadful man-eating creature. The film follows an unsung military official, his archery prodigy daughter and a team of warriors that unite to fight off the monster.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Huh Jong-ho (The Advocate), Monstrum stars A-lister Kim Myung-min (A Day) opposite up-and-coming actors Choi Woo-shik (Okja) and Lee Hye-ri, a member of the K-pop group Girl's Day.
Presented by Cineguru/Kidarient and produced by Taewon Entertainment, Monstrum is aiming for a wide release in South Korea this fall. A rough cut of the film will receive a market screening at Cannes on Friday.
In addition to Monstrum, Finecut's Cannes slate includes Lee Chang-dong's Burning, which is vying for the Palme d'Or in the main competition and is set to receive its world premiere on Wednesday. The banner also will present the upcoming animated family feature Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs (working title), featuring the voice of Chloe Moretz, and the arm wrestler comedy Champion, which has already sold to multiple territories worldwide
AMC’s Shudder Picks Up South Korean Creature Movie ‘Monstrum’
AMC Networks’ premium video service Shudder has picked up North American, British and Irish rights to South Korean creature movie “Monstrum.”
The film is based on historical court documents that recorded wild rumors about a man-eating creature on the loose in Korea. The story follows an unsung military man and his hotshot archer daughter.
Sales agent Finecut is screening promotional footage at the Cannes Film Market. But it has already clocked up several sales in Asia and Europe, including deals with Clover Films for Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia; Blue Lantern for Vietnam; Rafaella Films Intl. for the Philippines; and Koch Media for Germany, Austria, Switzerland (excluding French-language rights) and Italian-speaking pay-TV.
The film is directed by Huh Jong-ho and stars Kim Myung-min (“A Day,” “Pandora”), Choi Woo-shik (“Okja,” “Train to Busan”) and Lee Hye-ri, a member of the K-pop group Girl’s Day, making her feature debut.
