10 biggest Girl's Day news from the first half of 2018

July 01, 2018   2018, Girl's Day,

It's July 2 and we're in the middle of the year. We have 182 days left in 2018. In the first half of the year, a lot of things happened. Sort of. We're still waiting for Everyday #6, Thirsty 2.0, Sojin solo debut and whatever we have in mind. I hope we'll get a comeback soon or in autumn.

1. Girl’s Day’s Hyeri Received Offer From Madagascar Ambassador To Carry Sign At PyeongChang Olympics

On February 3, Im Sang Woo, part of the South Korean embassy in Madagascar, shared on social media that the PyeongChang organizing committee had responded positively to the idea of having Girl’s Day’s Hyeri as their picket girl. The “picket person” carries the sign for the country (not the flag, which is carried by a representative athlete from the country) during the opening ceremonies.

The idea of Hyeri being a picket girl for Madagascar comes from her hit drama “Reply 1988,” where Hyeri’s character Deok Sun was chosen to be Madagascar’s picket girl for the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Ultimately, her character was not able to fulfill her dream (despite some very energetic practicing) because Madagascar did not participate in the ’88 games.

On February 5, Ambassador Im released another statement saying, “It would have symbolic meaning for Hyeri to be the picket girl. We would like her to appear with the athletes from Madagascar. But these things need to be arranged in advance, so it’s not something we can just push forward. If it’s possible, we would like to do it.”

The next day, a source from Hyeri’s agency Dream T Entertainment stated, “Hyeri did receive an offer to be the picket girl but unfortunately she will not be able to attend due to conflicting schedules.”

The greatest thing that never happened. It's surreal that some things that happened on reply 1988 are coming to life. I wished Hyeri grabbed the opportunity. It could have been something huge.

2. Yura says Girl's Day are prepping for comeback

Yura revealed, "We promoted as Girl's Day last March. We're currently resting, but we plan to release an album this year." She further said the members had been talking about grouping up again, saying, "The members all decided to have Girl's Day promotions this year. I personally want to do a summer song, but the other members want to promote in winter or fall. It seems like we'll be having meetings with our agency about new tracks slowly."

As for questions about whether she thinks Girl's Day will last, Yura expressed, "I think we will. We said we would among ourselves. Even if a member would leave to another label, I think that the group Girl's Day will remain. If the group does disband later and the members get married and have a kid, I think we'll still be close. I think we'll continue to have a relationship."

source: https://www.allkpop.com/article/2018/03/yura-says-girls-day-are-prepping-for-comeback

There were reports that they renewed their contracts back in 2017? I dunno about that unless it comes from dreamtea. I hope we'll get a comeback this year.

3. Unseen Girl's Day dance practice sessions

I don't know why it was released all of a sudden but woah. To think that these were just sitting on someone's hard drive and finally shown to us. hmmm. Some said its purpose are for music shows for the camera man, something like that.

4. Yura talks about Girl’s Day wanting to make a comeback and feeling depressed about other groups’ disbandment

In recent interviews with media outlets Xportsnews and News1, the idol-turned-actress reported that even though Girl’s Day hasn’t promoted together as a group since their comeback in early 2017 with “I’ll Be Yours,” all four members have managed to stay in close touch with one another.

When asked about the secret to keeping their group together for 8 years, Yura replied, “We have a really great relationship. We get along very well. Maybe it’s because of our good teamwork, but we’ve never fought. To be honest, I don’t even feel like we’ve been together that long. I still feel like a rookie, and I can’t believe [it’s been 8 years already]. Maybe it’s because our group didn’t do well until later on.”

Yura went on to share that she missed living together with the other members and that they now used mutual hobbies as a way to spend time together. “It was so much fun when we lived together,” she recalled fondly. “There are times when I miss it. We spent time chatting with one another at least once a day.”

“Nowadays,” she said, “I see Hyeri at the bowling alley, and I see Sojin often because we live near each other. I see Minah every so often because we take ballet together, and we also have the same English teacher. Because we all share at least one hobby, we can see each other whenever. We also frequently meet up to go out and eat delicious food together.”

As for when fans could expect to see a group comeback, Yura promised that she would do her utmost to make a Girl’s Day comeback happen as soon as possible. “The members are constantly talking about making a comeback,” she remarked. “We need a good song in order to make a comeback, but it isn’t easy. I want us to make a comeback when we find a song and a concept that fit us perfectly.”

She added, “If we find a good song, our comeback might end up happening sooner than planned.”

Yura also talked about what kind of concept she hoped Girl’s Day would take on for their next comeback. She commented, “Innocent and bubbly concepts are in fashion these days, but I don’t want to let go of sexy concepts like ‘Something.’ I also want to do a summer song, so I’d like it if we came out with a sexy and refreshing song that suits the season.”

Speaking about the recent disbandments of girl groups like SISTAR and miss A, who debuted the same year as Girl’s Day, Yura confessed that hearing the news had been difficult for her. “There aren’t many groups left who debuted at the same time as us,” she explained. “I felt really strange when I saw the news that they had disbanded. It was to the extent where I was depressed for a while.”

She went on, “Honestly, [hearing about] groups disbanding hits close to home. In a way, it’s natural. But since our contracts aren’t up for a while, I don’t want to think about the future just yet.”

“I do think that we’ll continue on together [as Girl’s Day],” she added. “Right now we’re working hard on our solo activities, but I also think of our solo activities as promotions for Girl’s Day.”

5. Hyeri's movie comeback - Girls’ Day’s Hyeri, Uhm Tae Goo, And Kim Hee Won Gather For Script Reading Of New Film

New film “Dempsey Roll” (tentative title) has released photos from its first script reading.

“Dempsey Roll” is a comedy-drama film that will tell the story of a man named Byung Goo who used to be a professional boxer in the past, but now lives a helpless life due to a mistake he made in the past.

After getting diagnosed with punch-drunk syndrome, a condition caused by repeated concussions, Byung Goo becomes determined to complete his own unique style of boxing.  This “pansori boxing” combines Korea’s distinct rhythm with boxing steps and eventually becomes Byung Goo’s specialty.

Uhm Tae Goo will appear as Byung Goo. Although the actor has appeared in many films including “Coin Locker Girl,” “The Age of Shadows,” and “A Taxi Driver,” this will be his first comedy film.

Girls’ Day member Hyeri will play the role of Min Ji, who is a new employee at the gym and offers her support to Byung Goo.

Kim Hee Won will portray the role of Director Park who runs the boxing gym and teams up with Byung Goo to form a fun duo.

At the script reading on April 19, the actors reportedly prepared to show fun, comic acting while the crew displayed determination in presenting moviegoers with a new world of boxing.

Director Jung Hyuk Gi said, “I will show you a film that maintains a sense of humor while making you think about your forgotten dreams and the things that are disappearing.”

“Dempsey Roll” began filming on April 25 and is scheduled to premiere in 2019.

6. Minah's drama comeback - New drama "Absolute Boyfriend" starring Yeo Jin Goo, Girl's Day Mina and Hong Jong Hyun to form a love triangle

Minah of Girl’s Day is to star in new drama series “Absolute Boyfriend” (working title).

She is to play makeup artist. Unable to find romance in real life, she falls in love with a cybernetic doll, who is programmed to be a “perfect” boyfriend. Actor Yeo Jin-goo will play the role of the doll.

Minah, a member of K-pop act Girl’s Day, has been pursuing a succesful acting career, starring in hit SBS series “Beautiful Gong Shim” in 2016.

The series is an adaptation of a Japanese comic book of the same name, written and drawn by Yuu Watase. The cartoon was adapted into TV series in Japan and Taiwan. Korean actress Ku Hye-sun took the lead role in the Taiwanese version.

Anecdote from a dai5y: Girl's Day Sojin on Love Score 10/10

June 30, 2018   2018, Girl's Day, translation,

source: https://blog.naver.com/jsg0070/221309910895

The former leader sat down in front of me (Former DreamT CEO Papa Lee or Lee Jeong Suk watched Sojin's play). Two managers sat next to him.

Are you in your teens? There were several girls who looked like they were in their 20s, and I just saw them. I could tell it was Daisy.

The play was more interesting than expected. It was really fun!. It was the most interesting play I have ever seen. The comic element also attracted attention. It was a good play that left more emotion than I expected.

Girl's Day fans anxiously wait for a comeback. I also look forward to my comeback, but it is not just my comeback.

It is more desirable and desirable to see each person expanding his or her field of music. Hyeri's films, entertainment, Yura's entertainment and photography activities, Minah's dramas and solo activities, Sojin's entertainment and plays are all welcome as girl fans. What's more, aren't all these things in progressive form now? It's the best.

(Sometimes you have the V app and you can get the status of (?), so you may actually be greedy for more.)

But I wish you could play music sometimes.

(Of course, I am at the Red Angel Festival or the Liv Concert, but I am also excited about my new song.)

Come to think of it, I am very busy, but I have two concerts scheduled.;;

The story was strong, but the play debut was fantastic and fantastic.

It was hard, but I think I really did well to come. Of course, I will have to go back to Ulsan after a while.

I feel like I'm going to take this taste for a while. This is the moment when the happiness index is 10 out of 100,000.

-end-

5. An interesting female president line distribution video

Well executed. My first time seeing this way of showing distribution lines. I don't know if it's just me but when the chorus plays, everyones lines should also move and increase? but other than that, really cool.

6. hyeri mentioned on idol room
